The recent tree removal and trimming project was more than budgeted, but long overdue, making the result look even more extreme.
A Brazilian pepper tree was removed. These trees are not native to California. Seeds are transported by birds and mammals. They can take over and become a maintenance nightmare. The California Invasive Plant Council recommends against these trees being planted.
The Ficus tree in the Spiral Garden of native plants was also removed. Ficus trees are destructive and aggressive. The one in our garden was completely shadowing our California Oak tree.
Dangerous palm fronds were also removed and other trees pruned.
