Annual Tomato Tasting! Free to all!
Emerson Avenue Community Garden, 8050 Emerson Avenue (at 80th Pl), LA
We had a great turnout for the 2019 annual Tomato Tasting. 24 plot holders and guests attended. Our generous plot holders submitted 19 varieties of tomatoes. No variety was duplicated. These tomatoes were delicious, colorful and came in interesting shapes and many sizes. It was a challenge for the voters to make selections from this wide variety of tomatoes. We are grateful for the generous donations of tomatoes from our plot holders. This was a great opportunity to see and taste a big variety of tomatoes.
After tasting tomatoes and voting on tomatoes, UCCE Master Gardener Dana Morgan demonstrated how we could save Heirloom tomato seeds by the fermentation method. Dana also distributed written instructions to all attendees. With her thorough, clear instructions, we should be able to save seeds from our favorite tomatoes.
