Good Food Day At City Hall

Good Food Day.jpg

It was “Good Food Day” at City Hall on October 24 and Mike was proud to honor Emerson Avenue Community Garden as Council District 11’s “Good Food Day Honoree” for 2018.
The Emerson Avenue Community Garden is entirely managed by volunteers who are invested in their community and who have given their time and expertise to bring the gardens to life. The garden is located on a LAUSD campus and provides the students with the opportunity to learn about and grow food and offers a sustainable, organic green space for local community members to start their own garden. Patrons can pay for a plot of garden space, which is subject to rules on usage and upkeep.
Mike thanks Mike Calzala, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Karen Schaffer, Vice President for the board, for their leadership and vision of a more equitable, healthy, and sustainable community.
