Emerson Avenue Community Garden’s Annual Tomato Tasting.
18 people eager to taste a variety of tomatoes attended the 2nd annual EACGC tomato tasting on August 4, 2018. Eric Dahlstrom’s Yellow Brandywine was judged to be the “best overall tasting tomato,” the “biggest,” and the “ best color." Marti Moran’s Indigo Blue tomato was voted both the “prettiest” and “ugliest.” 🌞
Margaret Kubiak’s Japanese Black Trifele and Marti Moran’ s Supersteak tomatoes tied in the “juiciest” category. Al Young , Jr.’s Sweet 100 tomato was voted the “sweetest.”
Red Pearls grown by Lizzie Crampton and Andrew Ehlers were thought to have the fewest seeds. Margaret Kubiak’s Japanes Black Trifele was also selected by a third of the participants as the tomato "they wished to have grown.”
Guests also took a tour of the garden and heard a brief summary of the Emerson Avenue Community Garden's history. If you couldn't join us, mark your calendars! This is an annual event. 🍅🍅🍅
